In this tutorial we will show you how to hide a page from search engines, as well as how to hide your entire website from search engines. Making website pages or entire websites undiscoverable from search engines means that you will not allow search engines to crawl your page or website, and it will not appear in search results.
Hiding a Page from Search Engines (like Google)
By default, all pages of your site are indexed by search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing etc). If you don't want a specific page to appear in search engine results, you can hide it in the Page SEO section. To hide a page from search engines:
Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.
Click the relevant page.
Click the Show More icon
Click SEO (Google)
Click the Show this page in search results toggle to disable the option.
This means that people cannot find your page when searching keywords and phrases in search engines (e.g. Google).
Hiding a page from your site menu does not hide it from search engines. You must follow the steps above to stop the page being crawled by search engines and appearing in search results.
Pages that are hidden from search engines may not appear in your sitemap.
Password protected pages do not appear in search results as they are not crawled and indexed.
Hiding Your Site from Search Engines (like Google)
Not ready for your site to go public? You can hide your site from search engines to prevent it from showing in search results, such as Google. To hide your site from search engines:
Open your website dashboard (not the editor)
Go to Settings
Click the SEO tab
Scroll down to SEO Status.
Click the Allow search engines to include your site in search results toggle to disable this option.
Note:If your site is published, it may have already been crawled by search engines. In this case, it might take some time for search engines to update their database and for the pages to be removed.
